18 + 19 Weeks

18 + 19 Weeks

Week 18 + 19: Monday, February 26th, 2018

We are finally starting to settle into our new house and it's starting to feel like home. I keep looking around at our place and feeling so amazed that it has come together and really reflects our personalities and style. All the hard work (put forth mostly by Cliffton, my mom, my wonderful in-laws and of course contractors) and the waiting may be worth it afterall. Time will tell of course if these changes hold up! I love it and I can't wait to bring our new baby home and raise him/or her in this lovely place.

Eggy's Size: Grapefruit (8.47 oz, 5.02") at our scan (2/23 exactly 19 weeks, 0 days) it was confirmed that baby is 9 oz. They said baby isn't measured but when I looked at the ultrasound print out it said 16.8cm (or 6.61") so not sure how accurate that is but it seems reasonable?

Weight Gained: Officially gained about 5-6 lbs.

Pregnancy Symptoms: I can feel the baby kicking throughout the day, which is really comforting, but also sometimes alarming! Baby occasionally kicks at my cervix which made me jump the first time. Baby also seems to kick a lot right after I eat or right when I'm laying down for bed. I'm also still having pulsatile tinnitus which I've just resigned myself to as a part of pregnancy that may not be gone until baby arrives. I've also started feeling rounder and rounder by the day. My bump is still not obviously showing, but it's big enough that rolling around in bed isn't as easy anymore. I also am more and more breathless when it comes to physical activity. Cliffton and I took Albear on an hour long stroll in the park. Usually this would invigorate me, but I felt exhausted afterwards and fell asleep on the couch for an hour.

Food Cravings: Baby still seems to love spicy food! I literally ate a whole pile of spicy shrimp our Aunty Ling made at the Chinese New Year party we hosted this weekend! It was sooooo delicious. I know that this is baby's craving, because usually I'm not that crazy over shrimp (I'm too lazy to peel it). But I literally threw back at least 20 large shrimps. I'm also still loving the cheetos...I know this is bad but I can't seem to do without them. Can't tell if baby wants them, or just greedy old me. Insomnia is still plaguing me too but luckily it doesn't leave me too grumpy the next day, and I seem to make up for it in naps.

Food Aversions: Thankfully I don't seem to have anymore aversions. Still avoiding all the delicious raw foods, soft cheeses, and alcohol that might hurt baby.

Mood: I'm in good spirits! I think this is all owing to the fact that we are all moved in and I've cut down my work days from 5-6, to 4. :) Feeling lazy, but luckily my business has picked up enough to sustain this.

Eggy's Mood: Little baby is quite an active one! I think Eggy is going to be a handful because he/she seems to kick quite a bit. On Saturday for example, Eggy kicked several times throughout the day especially right after meals.

Baby Prepping Accomplishments: We finally got to check in on Eggy at the anatomy scan this past Friday (23rd). I'm so happy we got to see our baby since I've been worried ever since I had a fever in January, and we cancelled our NT scan (due to exorbitant cost, upwards of $1,000). Eggy was rolling around the entire time and covering his/her face with its fists. Baby has two legs, two arms, and all the 10 fingers and toes. Structurally, the ultrasound technician and doctor agree everything looks perfectly fine. Poor Cliffton was so nervous the whole time because he was worried they would find something wrong. I'm so glad Eggy looks healthy and energetic! The ultrasound technician also checked for the gender! We didn't look, but she wrote the gender for us on a piece of paper and sealed it up in an envelope for us to give to the baker since we're planning on doing a gender reveal cake!

On the Horizon: We have some family and a couple of friends coming down next weekend for our gender reveal party! I can't wait to find out the gender of our baby, not because I have a preference but I feel like every tiny bit of information brings me closer and closer to knowing our little one. I already love them so much and I can't wait to meet them and love them! Both Cliffton and I have had dreams of our little one being a boy! But honestly who knows! Everyone else seems to be pretty divided in terms of guessing.
