Him & Her

Cliffy was born in a small town called Klang in Malaysia. As the third and the youngest kid of 3rd generation Chinese-immigrant parents, Cliffy grew up in multi-cultural neighborhood of Gombak. All the Malay kids called him "Boycin" which is short for Chinese-boy in Malay. He likes to brag about having a hood name! Growing up in the diverse and dynamic Malaysia is a source of great pride for Cliffy. It is truly a melting-pot of different cultures. You can find Malays, Chinese, Indians, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhist speaking different languages from English, Bahasa Melayu, Tamil, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Hokkien. This colorful environment served as Cliffy's playground and classroom, teaching him to be curious and embrace different cultures readily. As he moved from Klang to Brunei to Gombak to Subang to Daytona Beach to Gainesville to Charlotte to Atlanta to Memphis and to Salt Lake City, Cliffy brings this attitude of learning and trying new things to heart. It would seem that Cliffton is an eternal nomad. Don't expect that to slow down! This blog will record all the adventures that come our way.

Adeline was born in Tampa, U.S.A., a small city just a hop skip and drive away from the magical world of Disney. Baby Adeline grew up in a typical suburban American home decked out with stucco and linoleum kitchen floors but with a flair of Chinese Malaysian culture. At 5-years old her family took a leap of faith and moved back to Malaysia. It was in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur that Adeline was finally exposed to people that looked like her, and initially it was frightening. After growing to embrace a multicultural, international world filled with colors, foods, and traditions for 3 years, it was time to go back to America. First there was a brief stop in Duluth, Georgia for just 2 short years. Then finally the Chan family settled down and found a home in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Adeline's childhood was filled with art, stories and wonderful magical dreams about the future. Happily all these dreams are becoming a reality.
