21-22 Weeks
Week 21-22: Monday, March 19th, 2018
We found out last Saturday (March 10th) that Baby Goh is a girl! :) We were literally speechless in shock but our little girl seems to be full of surprises. I always thought I would have a good instinct for what the gender of my child was, but I guess pregnancy is a mystery. Cliffton and I are over the moon and have started calling her by name this week. It's so sweet and we are so excited!
Eggy's Size: Eggplant 1-1.3lbs , 11-12" (crown to heel, instead of crown to rump)
Weight Gained: ~10 lbs OKAY, I'm starting to feel like my weight gain is accelerating so I'm going to try to hold off on the Cheetos and chocolate. I got a little lax about things due to the fact that in my first trimester I actually lost weight and everything tasted bad so...I went a bit wild. I'm going to try and regulate more. Pretty soon we are taking the glucose test and I don't want our precious girl to be affected by me if I get gestational diabetes. I'm overly worried, but better to be safe.
Pregnancy Symptoms: Less bloated the week before. Now I feel like a huge beach ball when I try to sleep. I'm probably being dramatic because my tummy isn't that big. I'm just not used to the additional weight being there. Starting to notice increased breathlessness when trying to do simple activities, like walk down the street, or up the stairs. Or even talking to patients I get winded.
Food Cravings: Baby girl has calmed down on the bagel and cream cheese cravings (or maybe it was just me). I haven't had any particular cravings lately. But my appetite has been good (a little too good). I guess I can say a food craving I had was Cheetos. I'm really trying to stop buying them though.
Food Aversions: None whatsoever.
Mood: Insomnia is back! I think I had more trouble sleeping just because we had a lot of people coming in and out of the house and from the excitement! I can't believe we know the gender now! I waited an entire month on the information! I'm much calmer now that we know the gender and have been sleeping better.
Eggy's Mood: Energetic and happy. I think our baby girl knows we are happy and she's been gently kicking. Cliffton was finally able to feel her kicks this past week! She is very strong. Cliffton says she will be a soccer player!
Baby Prepping Accomplishments: We know now that Baby is a girl! Cliffton and I were completely shocked as I said because we were so sure it was a boy (dreams about having a boy etc.) but we are so excited and thrilled. We received a few gifts for Baby and they brought a tear to my eye. We already love our little girl so much. We had a name picked out for a girl all the way back since 2016. Her name is Marin. I'm not sure where I came up with her name but I've always liked it. So the name came about in 2016 because when we were at the Rio Olympics Summer 2016 we were watching the badminton matches. Cliffton loved badminton growing up, and I'll have to admit that was my favorite event that we went to! The woman's gold medalist champion was actually named Marin (or her last name was Marin), from Spain. I remember watching her and admiring her energy and skill. I saw her name printed across her Jersey and figured I would ask Cliffton what he thought about the name. I turned to Cliffton and asked, "What do you think about the name Marin, for a girl". And Cliffton agreed he liked it and this is rare because Cliffton and I agree on almost zero percent of names. So there it is, that's how we picked out our daughter's name. Whenever we think of her name we will think of our wonderful adventurous honeymoon It was meant to be! I hope she grows up strong, and confident and brave, but also kind and lighthearted.
On the Horizon: We are going on a little 2 year anniversary trip this weekend to Savannah! Cliffton is still so romantic :)
