7 Weeks

7 Weeks

Week 7: Monday December 4th, 2017

Eggy's Size: Blueberry (0.02 oz, 0.5") - confirmed at ultrasound 0.92 cm long

Weight Gained: (starting at 101.8 lbs) No changes from the last couple of weeks. around ~0.5 lbs gained.

Pregnancy Symptoms: It depends on the day, but this past week (week 7) was up and down. Some days were great, other days like Saturday were horrible where I felt on the verge of vomitting all day. I've been getting quite a lot of headaches as well, but I feel like this is because I have been dehydrated.

Food Cravings: Fruit (green grapes, pomegranate seeds and apples) and tofu dishes. This baby seems to really like tofu. Or maybe I just like tofu? I've been doing my best to limit the soy, because I read on Google that moderation is key.

Food Aversions: Meat doesn't seem as appealing anymore as it did in previous weeks. Maybe I over did it?

Mood: Mostly I've been in good spirits. I've only felt down on the days where I was majorly nauseous or had a headache. On the occasion I will feel overwhelming anxiety about things that need to get done, but I just squash out those feelings as quickly as I can.

Eggy's Mood: Egg is pretty quiet now, but this past week as mentioned before it was completely up and down.

Baby Prepping Accomplishments: We went to our first doctors appointment on Friday, December 1st (where we hit 7 weeks gestational officially)! It was an amazing experience. Cliffton and I went first thing in the morning. They did another urine test to confirm (idk why...since they proceeded to do a ultrasound) and then the vaginal ultrasound. We finally got to see our little Eggy. When I saw the ultrasound register on the computer monitor I honestly felt a combination of overwhelmingly joyful emotions and awe, as well as the urge to burst out laughing. I worry about my readiness to be a mom since one of the first things that popped in my head was that Eggy looks like a little slug laying on the side of my amniotic sac. I giggled a little bit and said something like, "it's so little". Cliffton was really happy and patted my head and seemed very excited. Leaving the appointment we were both over the moon with happiness!

On the Horizon: Setting up my doctor's appointment for the OBGYN that will deliver our baby. Dr. Schapiro (my gynocologist that confirmed the pregnancy at my appointment last week) is no longer in the business of birthing babies unfortunately. So we are all set up with a new doctor, named Dr. Winifred Soufi at Northside Hospital, as recommended by Dr. Schapiro. We are going in for another appointment December 28th! I think they're going to do similar tests again, but this time there will be a blood test. Our ultrasound technician also mentioned to us that it was possible to find out the gender of the baby with this blood test which we are DEFINITELY going to do if it is an option. The next appointment is on a Thursday which I was a little bummed about since Cliffton wouldn't be able to make it, but he texted me and said he was going to do his best to be there with me. When I saw his message I was so moved by his determination that I teared up. I blame it on the pregnancy hormones.
